India seal Semi-Final Place in T20 World Cup 2024 after beating Australia

India beat Australia by 24 runs in a Super Eights stage Group 1 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Gros Islet on Monday.

Chasing a challenging 206-run target for victory, Australia scored 181/7 in the allocated 20 overs. Travis head was the highest scorer who made 76 runs.

Skipper Mitchell Marsh scored 37, Glenn Maxwell 20, Tim David 15 and Pat Cummins 11 runs. Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets and Kuldeep Yadav had two while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel took one wicket apiece.

After being asked to bat first by Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh, India managed to reach 205/5 in the allocated 20 overs even after losing Virat Kohli (0) early. Player of the match Rohit Sharma was the top scorer with 92 runs followed by Suryakumar Yadav who made 31. Shivam Dube scored 28, Hardik Pandya 27 and Rishabh Pant 15 runs. Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis bagged two wickets each and Josh Hazlewood had one.
