ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday approved a request made by Sessions Court Judge Shahrukh Arjumand seeking the transfer of the Iddat case involving PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to another court.
Judge Arjumand, who heard the appeals filed by Khan and his wife against their conviction in the case, wrote a letter to the high court registrar after the complainant, Khawar Maneka, expressed no confidence in him when he was set to announce verdict in the case.
The judge said the complainant had expressed no trust in him during case proceedings. Therefore, he requested IHC to transfer the case to another court.
Accepting the plea, the high court has transferred the case to Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka.
Maneka Assaulted Outside Islamabad Court
During previous hearing of the Iddat case, Maneka launched verbal attacks on Imran, enraging the PTI lawyers, who then roughed up him inside and outside the case.
The court was set to announce its verdict on appeals filed by the Khan and his wife against their conviction in the case on May 29. However, Judge Judge Shahrukh Arjumand went back to his chamber without announcing the verdict after Maneka expressed no trust in the judge.
As the judge left the courtroom, the PTI lawyers hurled bottles at Khawar Maneka over using abusing language against the party founder and his wife.
