In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Anjuman Augaf of Jamia Masjid Srinagar has condemned the authorities for not allowing Juma prayers at the historic mosque.
The Anjuman Auqaf in a statement in Srinagar said that once again the authorities did not allow congregational Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid.
“Deployment of forces was carried out since early morning in the area. When gates of the mosque were opened in the morning by Auqaf employees, forces’ personnel stopped them and informed them that prayers will not be allowed today,” it added.
The Anjuman Auqaf said repeated and deliberate closure of the central Jamia Masjid for Friday prayers, by the authorities, is highly condemnable.
It said, “Muslims of the valley denounce this injustice and interference in their religious obligation in strongest terms.”
The Anjuman also decried the continued arbitrary house arrest of its President, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq since August 5, 2019 when Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed special status of IIOJK and imposed military siege in the territory.
The Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on behalf of its incarcerated Chairman in a statement in Srinagar expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of 11 persons and injuring of 15 others in a tragic road accident in Doda district.
It expressed heartfelt condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family members of the deceased and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.—KMS
