ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court has ordered the removal of the name Sunni Ittehad Council’s parliamentary leader Zartaj Gul from the Exit Control List (ECL).
IHC’s Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri issued the order on a petition filed Zartaj Gul against the government’s decision to put her name in the ECL. The court directed the Assistant Attorney General to remove her name from the ECL and submit a report within one week.
During the haring the assistant attorney general submitted the record of the FIRs registered against the political leader. It shows that Gul has been named in to FIRs.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri remarked that the names of terrorists are not put on the terrorists, adding that he will summon the Inspector General of Police as names of the members of the National Assembly are placed on the no-fly list.
He said that political leaders’ names are added to the ECL just for holding a rally. The IHC judge said that all the cases registered against her are bailable but her name is in the no-fly list.
Later, the judge adjourned the case for one week.
