The identities of 116 Afghans who died in the Turkey earthquake have been confirmed, said the Afghan embassy in Turkey.

According to the embassy, there may be further Afghan casualties from the earthquake.

“Many Afghans suffered and died. We have 74 victims in Hatay Province, 34 in Adyaman Province, and 8 in Malatya Province,” said Musadiq Faqiri, a counselor for the Afghan Embassy in Turkey.

Thousands of people, including Afghan citizens, were killed by the devastating earthquake that struck 10 provinces of Turkey, and Syria.

Various groups in Afghanistan have begun the process of collecting donations for the earthquake victims in Turkey.

The Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment reported that it has donated more than $55,000 to Turkish earthquake victims.

“Businessmen and the provincial chamber of Herat donated $56,500 to Turkey, and the governor of Herat and the chamber of commerce presented cash to the Turkish Consulate,” said Yunus Qazizada, head of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment.

“The people of Afghanistan, particularly the people of Herat, are ready to assist their brothers in Turkey and, if the circumstances are favorable, for their brothers in Syria,” said Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the governor of Herat province.

A charity fund has been established in the province of Faryab, and people are gathering supplies for the earthquake victims.

The Afghan Red Crescent Society said that it has transferred 4.5 million afghani to the Turkish Embassy in Kabul to help the those affected by the recent earthquake in Turkey.

Earlier, the Islamic Emirate has announced 15 million afghani to help those who have been affected by the earthquake in Turkey.

A year ago, the Turkish government and humanitarian groups sent thousands of tons of food, hygiene products, and clothes to the Afghans. Now, help is being collected for people impacted by the earthquake in Turkey by Afghans.

The last shipment of Turkish aid arrived in Herat two weeks ago.

“On behalf of the people of Turkey, I thank you for your financial donations, which are another example of the unity between the Afghan and Turkish brothers,” said Sinan Elikhan, Turkish Consul General in Herat.

Nine days have passed since a powerful earthquake hit parts of Syria and 10 Turkish provinces.

According to official statistics, this earthquake has caused more than 37,000 deaths in Turkey and Syria and tens of thousands more injuries.
