The 12th edition of the International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2024) set to kick off at the Karachi Expo Center, to mark a significant milestone in Pakistan’s defense sector. The four-day event, scheduled from November 19 to 22, is set to showcase the latest advancements in military technology, defense systems, and equipment, with a record participation from international exhibitors.
During a media briefing at the Expo Center, key figures including Brigadier Ali Adil, Director Coordination Depot, and Commodore Ihtizaz Khalid, Director Media Depot, shared details about the exhibition’s layout and importance. They highlighted that this year’s edition has expanded to accommodate new features, with two additional exhibition halls, one dedicated to Chinese exhibitors and another for new startups.
More than 330 exhibitors from 55 countries are expected to attend, with a strong focus on showcasing cutting-edge technology and fostering international defense collaborations. Brigadier Adil emphasized that the exhibition would feature seminars and presentations that highlight
Pakistan’s defense capabilities and its growing role in the global defense market. “IDEAS 2024 is an international platform where defense industry leaders exchange ideas and showcase military advancements,” he said. Commodore Khalid noted that this edition would see first-time participants, including representatives from Ukraine and Italy, and the inclusion of innovative technologies such as the Tanker Haider and Shaper Three drones.
The addition of a dedicated hall for new engineers to present their projects reflects the event’s commitment to promoting innovation in defense technology. Prime Minister of Pakistan is scheduled to inaugurate the exhibition on November 19, while Chief Minister of Sindh will be the chief guest on the third day.
Various seminars will be held throughout the event to discuss key defense issues and opportunities for collaboration. In addition to the exhibitions, the traffic plan around the Expo Center has been organized with the help of the traffic police to ensure smooth access for attendees. DIG Traffic, Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, confirmed that certain roads, such as Sir Suleman Road, will be closed from 7 AM to 7 PM to facilitate the event. This year, IDEAS 2024 is expected to draw more international attention than ever before, with a substantial increase in foreign participation, setting the stage for enhanced defense partnerships and showcasing Pakistan’s strategic defense capabilities on a global scale.
