There are many political and legal options forseeking early release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from the US prison, but sadlythe government of Pakistan is simply not utilizing these options for thereasons better known to it, said Aafia Movement leader and notedneurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui, addressing an AafiaSiddiqui Conference here, organized by Team Aafia Pakistan.
She said that the nations that don’t respect their daughters would nevergrow and prosper. She said Pakistan is facing problems because ourrulers sold the daughters of the nation.
She said that the lawyer ofAafia Clive Smith was shocked to known about torture and sexual abusemeted out to Aafia. She asked the Pakistani youth if they would remainsilent over these atrocities.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) KP chapter ameer Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan saidthat Aafia is the most oppressed woman of this century. She is innocentand never ever involved in terrorism or money laundering. He said due tothe laudable role of the Islamabad High Court there are somedevelopments in the Aafia Siddiqui case.
JI Azad Kashmir chapter ameer DrMushtaq Ahmed said that the illegaldetention of Aafia Siddiqui is a great test for the Pakistani nation, aswell as, the Ummah. He said all political parties should adopt a jointstance on the issue of Dr Aafia.Defense of Human Right Pakistan chairperson Amina Masood Janjua saidthat we fully support the struggle for release of Aafia.
She asked thegovernment of Pakistan to think about the options floated by Dr Fowziato secure the release of Dr Aafia.The lawyer of Dr Aafia, Clive Stafford Smith said that Dr Aafia’srelease is possible if the government of Pakistan takes this issue withthe US administration on an official basis.
He said Aafia is bravingtorture and abuse in the US prison and this matter also need to be takenwith the US administration by the Pakistani government.
