The disagreement between the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi and Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori over Jefco ground has been resolved amicably as the former visited Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters, here on Friday and agreed to restore the ground in its original shape and capacity.At JI office Karachi headquarters, both sides discussed the issue in a cordial atmosphere.
The two also discussed various issues pertaining to the progress and development of the mega city. JI leaders MunimZafar, Raja Arif Sultan, Rashid Qureshi, ZahidAskari, QaziSadaruddin and North Nazimabad Town Chairman Atif Ali Khan also attended the meeting. Following the meeting, EngrNaeemurRehman and Governor Kamran Tessori held a joint press conference. Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the unpleasant situation created because of a misunderstanding and communication gap and now the issue has been resolved amicably.
He thanked the JI leader for his invitation to visit Idara Noor-e-Haq. He stressed the need to work jointly for the betterment and development of the city. He said he agreed to Engr Hafiz NaeemurRehman that the population of Karachi is over 35 million and has already raised his voice over the issue. He further said that resources of the city and the province have been plundered in a systematic way and this system needs to come to an end.The governor said that Karachi supports the economy of entire Pakistan but its own progress and development has been halted for the past several decades.
He expressed his hope that over 25 million US dollars will be added to the foreign reserves in the days to come and 30 percent of the total inflows will be invested in Karachi. EngrNaeemurRehman in his address clarified the position of the two sides and quoted the governor as saying that he just wanted to develop another park for the people of Karachi. The JI leader said that the party had launched a massive struggle and had also approached the judiciary for restoration of Jefco ground. He added that as per the court decision a piece of land allocated for a playground cannot be converted into any other capacity, neither it can be used for commercial purposes.
Also in 2022, all the previous agreements for commercial use of amenity plot had been quashed, he said.He said that RaufSiddiqui had misguided the governor on the basis of a quashed agreement under which Siddiqui was intended to use the plot for monetary gains.On the occasion, he expressed his sorrow over the unpleasant situation occurred as result of the governor’s arrival at Jefco ground. He said that no one should have chanted slogans against the governor despite the fact that the stance of the area residence was based on the past experience. He said that the anger and outburst of area residents were against the China cutting mafia and not the governor.
