ISLAMABAD – Former Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha on Thursday recorded his statement before the committee of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) probing rigging allegations.
The sources said that Liaqat Ali Chatha appeared before the commission and recorded his statement regarding the allegations he levelled against election rigging.
Earlier, the committee constituted to probe the allegations issued a notice to Mr. Chattha and asked him to appear before it to record his statement.
After a thorough investigation, the investigation committee concluded its inquiry into the allegations of electoral fraud.
According to the reports, all District Returning Officers (DROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) in the Rawalpindi Division unanimously refuted the accusations of electoral misconduct against the former commissioner.
Moreover, the investigation committee also documented written statements from all six DROs operating within the Rawalpindi Division as part of its comprehensive inquiry.
