Senior PPP leader SharjeelInamMemon stated that the federal government will present the issue of banning a political party to the cabinet for discussion. He emphasized that every party has the right to participate in politics, but clear boundaries exist. Addressing a press conference, Memon questioned the nature of peaceful protests.

“If a peaceful protest was called outside GHQ, how did people end up inside?” he asked. He also pointed out the contradiction between calling it a peaceful protest and the burning of 20 buses and ambulances in Karachi. Memon reiterated that the PPP does not support the imposition of Governor’s rule in any province. “Discussions are currently based on assumptions; every action follows a procedure,” he added, stressing the difference between political activities and terrorism.

He mentioned historical context, noting that during the APS tragedy and the Bannu jail break, PTI was in power in the respective regions. Memon asserted that maintaining law and order is a fundamental responsibility of the government. He concluded by recalling past events in Karachi, where calls for peaceful strikes led to significant violence and loss of life. “If that was a peaceful strike, what would a violent one look like? We must learn from those days,” he said.
