AFTER meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the issue of Madrassa Registration Bill, JUI-F chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, announced that the government had assured progress on their demands, expressing confidence that something positive would emerge soon. Speaking to the media, he expressed optimism about the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns as he revealed that the Prime Minister had instructed the Ministry of Law to take immediate steps, raising hopes for a favourable resolution within days.
Controversies do arise but these should be sorted amicably through discussion and dialogue instead of hurling threats or engaging in activities that amount to testing each other’s nerves. Maulana Fazlur Rehman always speaks with reason and logic and tends to play a positive role in complex and delicate situations. It is appreciable that he did not show haste in giving practical shape to his ultimatum regarding a march on Islamabad in support of his demands about enforcement of the bill. President Asif Ali Zardari too acted strictly in line with the mandate of his office, which is there to review the legislation passed by parliament and point out flaws, if any. It is satisfying that instead of doing politics, the issue is being resolved amicably through discussions and the two sides are showing positive attitude as confirmed by the JUI(F) leader who has commended the ‘constructive’ approach of the Prime Minister.
