An emergency meeting on rain preparedness was convened by EhsanurRehmanMazari, Advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination and Cooperative, at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kashmore. The meeting was aimed at evaluating the district’s emergency response to recent rainfall and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
Attended by District Chairman Gul Muhammad Jakhrani, along with officials from provincial and federal departments, and representatives from the Municipal and Town Committees, the meeting reviewed the actions taken to address the impact of the monsoon. Deputy Commissioner Amir FazalOwaisireported that Kashmore District had experienced 188 mm of rainfall this season.
He detailed the ongoing drainage operations, which are supported by heavy machinery from the Municipal Town Committee and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Efforts are particularly focused on clearing standing water from informal settlements. EhsanurRehmanMazari acknowledged the growing hazards associated with climate change, emphasizing the need to address encroachments on drainage channels during the rainy season. He also announced that strict action would be taken against ghost doctors and visa violators in the district, ensuring their removal from service.
