Sindh education department has launched a province-wide crackdown on ghost teachers, aiming to root out individuals who have been fraudulently collecting salaries while not performing their duties. The initiative began with an examination of travel records for suspected ghost teachers, some of whom are reportedly living abroad.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has provided detailed records for teachers identified as ghost employees in ShaheedBenazirabad district as part of the first phase of this action. In a recent development, the Sindh education department has dismissed eight ghost teachers who had been receiving salaries for the past two years despite residing overseas. Akbar Leghari, Secretary of the Sindh Education Department, confirmed the terminations and emphasized that Taluka education officers across the province are actively identifying more ghost teachers.
The department has issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against any further instances of ghost employment, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in the education sector.
