The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided that army troops will not be deployed inside the polling stations during the upcoming by-elections in the country.
The ECP has decided that troops would only be responsible for security outside the polling stations in the upcoming by-elections for eight vacant seats of the National and Provincial Assemblies. Sources said that security inside the polling station will be the responsibility of the police. The Election Commission has completed consultations regarding the matter and will soon contact the government for Army deployment.
