A hand-grenade explosion in the restive Khyber Tribal district on Friday morning left a Deputy Superintendent of Police seriously wounded and two cops martyred.
A police team headed by a DSP, was on routine checking in Shah Kus area of Jamrood Tehsil when a hand-grenade believed to be in the custody of the Police went off.
Police constables Jan Gul Aslam and Mehmood Shah succumbed to their injuries while DSP Headquarters Haq Nawaz received serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
“The hand-grenade was in the possession of the Police Party that was in routine checking in Shah Kus Tehsil, and went off accidentally killing two cops and wounding the DSP,” the police said.
