A number of drug addicts in Kabul on Friday said the cold weather has complicated the situation for them and that some of them have died due to hypothermia.
“I went to Iran for work where we used drugs with friends and it has been one year that I have turned into a drug addict,” said Yasin, a Kabul resident.
“I used drugs with friends and now I am addicted to drugs,” said Omar, another resident of Kabul.
A number of women are also among the drug addicts who said they are going through a tough situation.
“It has been five years that I am addicted to drugs and I try so hard but I cannot leave it,” said Zarmina, 35, and mother of two children.
“We lose six to seven persons every night and we don’t have shelters and there is no one to help us,” said Abdul Qadir, a drug addict.
A number of families of drug addicts said the government should prevent the sale of drugs in the city.

The Ministry of Interior Affairs has said over 300 drug addicts have been collected from various areas in Kabul and have been sent to rehabilitation centers.—Tolonews
