Disposal of garbage process to be made hygienic, centralized

An important meeting of Solid Waste Management Board was held under the chairmanship of Secretary Local Government, Housing and Town Planning, Sindh Najam Ahmad Shah in which MD Solid Waste Management Board Zubair Channa and other officers were also present.
On the occasion, Secretary Local Government Najam Ahmad Shah was informed in a briefing that efforts are being made to carry out measures for disposal of garbage at all landfill sites on scientific basis. The selection of experts to fully computerize all matters from garbage transfer stations to landfill site transfers is in the final stages which will be implemented soon.
Speaking on the occasion, Najam Ahmad Shah said that his first priority and mission is to equip all the institutions run by the local government with modern technology and global standards and by decorating all the local government affairs in a scientific manner in order to make them more transparent and efficient. Instructing MD Solid Waste Zubair Channa, Secretary Local Government Sindh said that all possible efforts should be made to move the Solid Waste Management Board towards more efficiency and effectiveness and special attention shall be paid to the professional training of all the staff members.
Later, in an exclusive interview, Najam Ahmad Shah said that work is underway on a project to make the transfer of solid waste to landfill sites safely by hygienic methods and a plan to link all processes to the central monitoring unit is also under consideration. The Secretary LG also said that through the smart use of the latest technology complete record and performance of each loading and dumping vehicle could also be easily noted.
