DHC Bangladesh explores trade opportunities with SBCCI

Deputy High Commissioner Bangladesh in Karachi, S.M. Mahbubul Alam, visited Nawabshah to engage with business leaders and members of the Shaheed Benazirabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SBCCI). The SBCCI welcomed the envoy, including its President, Senior Vice President, Vice Presidents, and other office bearers.
During the meeting, the Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the potential for enhancing trade between Bangladesh and Pakistan. He expressed optimism about achieving a bilateral trade target of USD 1 billion in the near future.

Encouraging Pakistani entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in Bangladesh, he elaborated on the country’s investor-friendly policies and ongoing initiatives, including the development of 100 special economic zones attracting foreign investments. The SBCCI representatives and prominent business figures expressed a keen interest in expanding trade ties with Bangladesh. Discussions covered direct flights, shipping routes, simplified visa processes, and exchange programs for business delegations.

Alam invited Pakistani business delegations to visit Bangladesh and emphasized the importance of increased collaboration between the chambers of commerce in both countries. He also stressed the need for stronger people-to-people connections to foster mutual understanding and economic growth. Both the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi and the SBCCI reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote trade.
