Director General of Public Relations, Sindh Information Department, Muhammad Saleem Khan, emphasized the critical role of Public Relations Officers (PROs) in enhancing public awareness of provincial government initiatives. Speaking at a meeting with PROs at his office, Khan highlighted the need for a stronger communication strategy, including the use of social media, to showcase the government’s welfare projects more effectively.

Accompanied by Director Publications Imtiaz Joyo, Director Press Information Abdul Majid Khan, and Deputy Director Admin Aleem Khan, DG Khan urged PROs to ensure a clear and positive flow of information between government departments and media outlets.

He remarked on how the public remains largely unaware of key government projects. Citing recent visits by journalists from Peshawar, Lahore, and Islamabad to Thar, Sukkur, Gambat, and Karachi, he noted their surprise at the development initiatives in education, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors, acknowledging the transformation in their perception of Sindh. Khan encouraged PROs to harness digital and social media platforms for wider outreach, particularly for flagship projects.

“Utilizing these platforms will guarantee enhanced publicity of government efforts,” he said. He also supported a proposal for Artificial Intelligence (AI) training for PROs, directing the Social Media Directorate to expedite the initiative. Reflecting on the department’s unique role as the government’s public face, Khan urged officers to work with renewed dedication to communicate the provincial government’s progress effectively.
