During his visit to Karachi, FIA Director-General Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir chaired a crucial meeting with the Pakistan Bankers’ Association, attended by top officials from national and commercial banks. The meeting involved in-depth discussions on the challenges FIA faces in combating financial crimes. DG Jahangir expressed concern over banks’ delays in providing records, highlighting that these delays, along with the withdrawal of complaints by banks in fraud and forgery cases, hamper investigations.
Jahangir also pointed out the lack of communication and coordination between banks and the FIA in addressing financial crimes. In response, the attendees briefed the DG on the difficulties faced by banks.
DG Jahangir assured closer cooperation between the FIA and the banking sector. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to adopt a joint strategy to resolve these issues.
