All strategies of the Karachi Police to control street crimes appear to have failed because instead of declining there has been an astounding increase in such crimes in recent days, it was reported on Tuesday.

Perhaps nothing can better illustrate the police’s dismal performance than the robbery committed in New Karachi where drinking tea proved costly for the people as more than eight of them were robbed of their cell phones as well as cash by some armed men who after committing the crime managed to flee from the spot.

One of the affected persons said that the same gang of dacoits simultaneously robbed people of their valuables at more than two places in New Karachi and also beat up the people.    The victims said that the cops at Bilal Colony police station refused to lodge a complaint, asking them to come back again at 3:00 in the afternoon.

Residents of the area are not only perturbed over rising street crimes but also dismayed at the police’s performance.  They have appealed to the authorities to ensure protection of their lives and properties.
