The Counter Terrorism Department Peshawar on Thursday claimed to have gunned down two hard core terrorists in an Intelligence Based Operation conducted in the outskirts of the provincial metropolis. “The operation was triggered by a tip-off that indicated the presence of a group of terrorists at a hideout in the Phase 4 of the Regi Model Town Peshawar”. The CTD officials said adding the agency personnel swiftly organized and executed a meticulously planned raid to apprehend the suspects and neutralize any potential threat they posed.
They said upon realizing the presence of the CTD personnel the alleged terrorists opened fire in a desperate bid to evade capture that was effectively retaliated and the exchange of fire resulted in the killing of two terrorists. However, as usual in the case, no member of the law enforcing agency was hurt in the cross firing. It said a total of eight terrorists were initially present at the hideout yet six of the terrorists managed to flee during the shootout. The CTD also seized a cache of explosive materials including foreign weapons from the site.
