As the countdown to the February 8 polling day begins, Sindh becomes the epicenter of political excitement. Major political figures, religious groups, alliances, and independent candidates, including Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Bashir Memon, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, and the Grand Democratic Alliance, intensify their campaigns across Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and other districts. Voters are fervently urged to show their support in this crucial electoral battleground.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, having concluded campaigns in other provinces, now shifts his focus to Sindh, a stronghold where his party has held sway for the past 15 years.
Leading rallies in various cities alongside Bibi Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari is working to garner support. MQM Pakistan’s Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, with central leadership including Syed Mustafa Kamal and Dr Farooq Sattar, addressed rallies in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other urban areas, presenting a manifesto focused on neglected urban development over the past 15 years.
Jamaat-e-Islami, actively participating in Karachi and other Sindh areas, hosted public gatherings addressed by Central Emir Sirajul Haq and Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. PML-N’s Bashir Memon, contesting in Matiari, claimed PML-N will secure victories in several Sindh seats, with allies JUI-F, GDA, and MQM Pakistan also poised for success. In Sanghar district, GDA’s Muhammad Khan Junejo challenged PPP’s Shazia Atta Marri on NA-209, while SairaBanoWassan of GDA competing against PPP’s Sallahuddin Junejo on NA-210.
Grand Democratic Alliance, led by PirPagara, engaged in a fierce contest with Pakistan People’s Party in various Sindh districts. In Khairpur, Syed Sadaruddin Shah Rashid challenges PPP’s Sayed Fazul Shah Jillani, while GDA’s Moezam Abbasi facing PPP’s SayedJaved Ali Shah Jillani. Former CM Sindh Ghous Ali Shah contesting NA-202 against DrNafisa Shah on NA-202 Khairpur.
