Islam places a high emphasis on cleanliness, considering it an essential part of faith. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Cleanliness is half of faith” (Sahih Muslim). This teaching underscores the importance of both physical and spiritual purity. During Eid ul Azha, this principle is especially significant as Muslims prepare for the festival by performing ritual ablutions, wearing clean clothes, and ensuring their homes and surroundings are tidy. This reflects their respect for the occasion and the values of hygiene and purity that are integral to Islamic teachings. The practice of Qurbani (sacrifice) also involves cleanliness, in a hygienic manner.

Eid ul Azha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is a significant event in the Islamic calendar. It involves the ritual sacrifice of animals, which requires extensive cleanliness arrangements to ensure public health and hygiene. This year, the Punjab Government, along with the dedicated efforts of the Deputy Commissioner of Khushab, and his team has made commendable contributions to maintaining cleanliness during this sacred occasion. Punjab Government’s Initiative

The Punjab Government has always prioritized public welfare, and their proactive approach towards cleanliness during Eid ul Azha is a testament to this commitment. In preparation for the festival, the government launched a comprehensive cleanliness campaign, focusing on the swift and efficient disposal of animal waste. Key measures included:

1. *Pre-Eid Awareness Campaigns* To educate the public about the importance of maintaining cleanliness, the government initiated awareness campaigns. These included distributing pamphlets, running advertisements on electronic media, and organizing community meetings.

2. *Provision of Additional Resources* Recognizing the increased waste during Eid ul Azha, the government provided additional resources to municipal bodies, where needed. This included extra waste collection vehicles, additional workforce, and an ample supply of disinfectants.

3. *Designated Sacrifice Zones* To control and manage the waste, the government designated specific areas for animal sacrifices. These zones were equipped with proper waste disposal facilities.
