In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, has strongly denounced the continued house arrest of its chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The Anjuman in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that even in the blessed and holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the Mirwaiz, continues to be under arbitrary detention, and the restrictions on his activities continue which is not only interference in religious affairs of Muslims but also a serious violation of his basic human rights.

The Anjuman said that due to the continued detention of Mirwaiz for the last 38 months, the sentiments of the Muslims of Kashmir, especially the people who come to the historic Central Jamia Masjid Srinagar to listen to his sermon, are being insensitivity hurt.

The Anjuman on behalf of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the organization greeted the Muslims Ummah on the occasion of the blessed birth of the Last Messenger Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

It paid glowing tributes to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) the “saviour and benefactor of humanity”, “a blessing for all human kind”. “From His (SAW) birth to the present day, the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) guide mankind without discrimination, and until the Day of Judgment, the blessings of the Prophet (SAW) will continue to guide humanity,” it said.

The Anjuman urged the Muslims to make a commitment to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) wholeheartedly to lead a fruitful and beneficial life and earn the goodwill of Allah in the hereafter.—KMS
