Pakistan’s construction industry is transitioning towards modern and sustainable materials, as highlighted by an official from the Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP). In a three-day IAPEX 2024, organized by IAP, served as a platform to showcase these advancements, drawing architects, designers, students, and industry experts. Chairman of IAP, Mishaal Merchant, emphasized the pivotal role of the construction sector in economic development, citing statistics from the Pakistan Credit Rating Agency (PACRA).
He stressed the need for local industry to adhere to international standards, especially in the wake of the 2022 floods and evolving global trends. Among the showcased materials, downstream PVC products garnered significant attention, with ThinkPVC, a retail outlet owned by Engro Polymer & Chemicals (EPCL), displaying a range of innovative solutions. EPCL’s Chief Commercial Officer, Muhammad Idrees, emphasized the importance of embracing sustainable materials in addressing the urban housing crisis.
He highlighted PVC’s longevity, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness, positioning it as a preferred choice for architects and developers worldwide. The unveiling of Vero, a new range of kitchens and vanities, aims to set new benchmarks in quality and craftsmanship, while promoting import substitution and local market development in line with global excellence standards.
