Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon visited District Korangi as part of his visits to the different districts of the city for his awareness of the civic issues and to make decisions for the resolution of issues and to bring improvement of life.
During his visit to the district, the commissioner chaired a meeting at the Office of Deputy Commissioner Korangi to get feedback from the officers of the subdivisions.
Deputy Commissioner Saleemullah Odho, assistant commissioner and mukhtarkar of the district attended the meeting.
On this occasion a detailed presentation was made by the deputy commissioner about the demography of the district as well as the details of the issues and the efforts being made by the concerned officials for bringing improvement for better city.
Commissioner was informed that the district has great number of skilled workers having knowledge and skill of working for different industrial and technical industries located in the district.
This is the district of multi-culture as most people live here belong to the different culture and language.
Commissioner was also on the occasion he visited Sindh government hospital Korangi No 5 and EBM cause way to inspect the work of improvement at cause way carried out by the government of Sindh.
Commissioner asked the officers of the district to make all out efforts to be aware of issues of their areas relating to the civic life.
Think ideas implement them for the imprudent of their lives and develop the district as the government wanted, he added.
He advised them to visit every day their areas for finding out issues inviting the attention of concerned officials and ensure that they are resolved with the satisfaction of the residents of their areas.
In this regard he advised the officials of district administration to keep close liaison with the concerned officials providing every needful support guidance and assistance to them till the issues are resolved satisfactorily.
It was decided in the meeting that steps would be taken to establish more skilled training institutes.
In this connection district admiration would approach to the government and invite attention to the private sectors support and non-government organizations for the setting up of such institutes .
The issues of health and safety of the workers of the industries was also discussed in the meeting Commissioner Memon asked the officials to take steps to ensure that the industries located in their areas provide their workers their due rights according to the labour laws and have system and arrangement for the health and safety of the workers.
The commissioner asked the officials to check that all workers are getting the benefits from the Sindh Employees Social Security institution(SESSI), Sindh welfare funds as per their rights and to also check that they are registered with the Employees old age benefits association or not .
The commissioner was informed about lack of sports facilities in the district as they did not have sufficient play ground as the residents wanted.
Commissioner asked the district administration to take steps for bringing the improvement of play grounds which are neglected and are in dilapidated condition.
It was also decided in the meeting that district administration would activate district sports committee to provide sports activities to the resident and to improve the sports in the district.
