City Administration has issued a NOC to the Cable Operators Association on Friday for laying the cables underground in common corridor, Karachi Division for digging of roads, streets service lines and footpaths with a time line of one month and time line shall start from issuance of this NOC. A meeting was chaired by the Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani at his office reviewed the arrangements for the implementation of the shifting of cables from KE poles for laying underground.
The meeting was attended among others by the Assistant Commissioner General, Commissioner Karachi office Aijaz Hussain Rind, Chairman of the Cable Operators Association Pakistan, representatives of the K Electric, Senior Officials of the officials of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, KMC and DMCS and others.
Commissioner Karachi said that the city administration was making efforts to beautify the city and had taken various steps for the beautification.
Cables installed on the K electric poles are also needed to shift from the poles to the underground system as the cables on the poles give ugly look and they are also against the safety guidelines. It was decided that the work for the shifting of the cables from the poles to the underground system would be carried out with close coordination and understanding with the concerned utility departments such as Water and Sewerage board, SSG, K electric and others.
