CEO LWMC has said that all issues regarding machinery have been settled. Till now more than 10 thousand Tons of waste has been lifted in an environment friendly manner whereas the operation is still underway.
He expressed these view while addressing a press conference regarding Zero Waste Operation in the city on Wednesday.
He said that despite all the issues the department is working tirelessly to maintain cleanliness in the city.
In future LWMC will ensure more transparent system and citizens will not be disappointed in any case.
He further added that maintain cleanliness in the city is our top most priority and in this regard company is using all possible means to ensure timely lifting of waste from the city.
He also said that in next 4 to 5 days a visible difference in cleanliness of the city can be observed whereas no officer or worker will be going home till it ends successfully.
He added that due to the lack of containers waste cannot be disposed off properly and citizens have to see heaps of garbage. 12000 containers are required in the city where as only 4000 waste is installed in the city.
The issue of waste containers will be completed in a month and the new containers will be placed at most points of the city.
He also said that the experienced companies are hired through PPRA rules for primary and secondary collection of waste. A five-day target has been set to lift 80% of the city’s garbage.
Top management and all officers/workers are serving dedicatedly to make mission Clean Lahore goes successful. Citizens will be provided with the best cleaning facilities.
Citizens are not responsible for garbage; the lack of machinery has created a garbage crisis in the city.
One hundred machines are required in the system to ensure efficient sanitation in the city on a daily basis.
Citizens are requested to cooperate with the department and avoid littering. Spokesperson LWMC briefed that citizens can dial LWMC helpline 1139 or use Clean Lahore Mobile Application in-case of any waste related complaint.
