City administration, in line with the directives of the Sindh government, has initiated a special campaign for price checking ahead of the upcoming month of Ramadan. Commissioner Karachi, Muhammad Saleem Rajput, has assured citizens of relief measures during Ramadan, personally overseeing the campaign. Commissioner Rajput has directed Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict enforcement of government-set prices.
Additionally, officers from the police, Food Department, and Weights and Measures Department have been instructed to assist in field operations. On Thursday, Karachi authorities-imposed fines exceeding Rs. 2.897 million on a total of 192 retailers for violating price regulations. Two shops were sealed for price violations, both located in the southern district. In total, fines were imposed on 53 retailers in the southern district, amounting to Rs. 1.802 million. In the eastern district, fines of Rs. 357,000 were imposed on 18 retailers, while in the western district, fines exceeding Rs. 1.13 million were levied on 19 retailers. In the central district, fines amounting to Rs. 317,000 were imposed on 49 retailers. Furthermore, fines were also issued in Malir, Korangi, and Kemari districts, totaling Rs. 777,000, Rs. 1.15 million, and Rs. 1.16 million, respectively.
