THE categorical position adopted by China over the issue of state-sponsored terrorism by India and conspiracies against the flagship project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a clear testimony that the world is no longer ready to buy Indian propaganda against Pakistan and is instead concerned over New Delhi’s use of power as instrument of policy. In the face of aggressive campaign launched by Pakistan to expose India’s real face, Prime Minister Modi has tried to take refuge behind old rhetoric of ‘Pakistan sponsoring terrorism’ but Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lijian Zhao on Friday appreciated the ‘positive contribution’ of Pakistan to the international counterterrorism efforts and also declared that any attempt to sabotage the CPEC project would not succeed.
China always supported Pakistan and this support and its cooperation with the country is based on universally accepted principles of inter-state relations. The latest declaration of the Chinese Foreign Ministry comes in the backdrop of dossier that Pakistan has shared with the international community providing undeniable evidence of India’s sponsorship of terrorism in Pakistan. At a recent news conference, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Director-General ISPR Major-General Babar Iftikhar shared with media-men video and audio clips, along with documents, of Indian handlers and terrorists communicating with each other and Indian intelligence handlers passing on instructions to terrorists in Pakistan. India is spending 80 billion rupees to damage CPEC and its intelligence agency RAW was operating a network of agents and training camps through its diplomatic missions in Afghanistan that were financing, training and equipping militants operating inside Pakistan. Pakistan has also briefed envoys of P5 about India’s anti-Pakistan activities urging them to take notice of the situation as there should be no discrimination as far as fight against terrorism is concerned. In fact, Pakistani leadership realized the threat to CPEC and that is why Pakistan Army has created a separate division to effectively secure all CPEC-related activities in all parts of the country, which are going on as per schedule despite various odds. Pakistan defence forces have the capability to foil designs of the enemy but opposition to a pure development endeavour is proof that India cannot see Pakistan prosper. People of Pakistan are also grateful to China for standing firmly with Pakistan by way of provision of political, diplomatic, economic and strategic support.
