BEIJING – At least two Chinese citizens were killed and a third was injured in Pakistan after their convoy was attacked by a terrorist in Karachi, and the incident prompted stern response from Beijing.

In light of a deadly bombing, Chinese government advised its citizens and businesses in Pakistan to remain vigilant and enhance their safety measures.

The attack targeted convoy carrying employees of the Port Qasim Electric Power Company near Jinnah International Airport, resulting in the deaths of two Chinese nationals and injuries to another Chinese national, along with several locals.

Chinese embassy in Pakistan strongly condemned the terrorist act, expressing heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families from both countries. They reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with Pakistani authorities to manage the aftermath of the incident.

China has initiated an emergency plan in response to the bombing, demanding a thorough investigation into the attack and calling for the perpetrators to be severely punished. The embassy emphasized the importance of protecting the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects operating in Pakistan.

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed attack amid surge in insurgency in Balochistan. The terror group specifically targets Chinese interests in region, particularly strategic Gwadar port, accusing China of exploiting Balochistan.

Recent violence includes attacks near China-backed Dasu hydropower project, which have claimed the lives of several Chinese engineers. Chinese Embassy also advised its citizens and businesses in Pakistan to stay vigilant and enhance their security measures. Pakistan is also set to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in two weeks.
