Ministry of Public health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan opened an exclusive ward for heart surgeries of children in Kabul which is also the first one in the public health sector of the country.
The ward was inaugurated in Indira Gandhi hospital based in Kabul and doctors of the ward have been trained in India. Officials of the Ministry said that the ward was supposed to be inaugurated in 2012 but it did not happen due to vas corruption in the previous gov-ernment. Deputy Minister of public health Abdul Bari Omar said that the IEA is committed to strengthening the public health system that was forgotten during the previous government. Abdul Bari Omar added that the rest of the problems of the public health sector will also be resolved in the coming months.
Afghanistan’s health sector is one of those that are most affected especially after foreign aid to Af-ghanistan stalled following the Taliban takeover but the international community has promised to be strengthening the sector.—KHAAMA PRESS
