The body of a youth missing from Karachi was found at a truck stand in Peshawar from a sealed plastic drum shipped from Karachi to Peshawar for onward delivery in Afghanistan via truck.

The owner of the trucking company has been arrested, while the police and intelligence agencies are looking for the consignee, considered to be the main suspect. The victim, Omar Farooq, a 20-year-old man of Afghan origin, was kidnapped for ransom but killed over the fear of recognizing the kidnappers, who stuffed his body in a plastic drum and parceled it off to a destination in Afghanistan by trucking service.

However, the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, have cracked the murder case of a missing man and recovered his body during a joint operation in coordination with an intelligence agency.

According to a statement issued by the Rangers spokesman, the main suspect has fled to Afghanistan while his accomplice has been arrested.

The victim, Omar Farooq, 20, was kidnapped from the Sachal area on September 1 and a case was registered at the Sachal Police Station.

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell, police, Rangers, and intelligence agencies jointly launched an investigation into the incident. Upon checking a drum sent from Karachi to Peshawar, Farooq’s body was found.

As per the investigation, the deceased’s friend Gul Rehman had called Farooq on September 1 to meet him and killed him.

Rehman, also an Afghan national, kept calling the victim’s family from his mobile phone to demand ransom Rs10 million for his safe recovery, though he had already killed him and stuffed the body in a plastic drum to hide it.
