The Hundred franchise Birmingham Phoenix has decided to retain the services of Pakistan’s premier bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan for the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old could not take part in the last year’s competition but that did not stop the team from keeping him for a hefty price of £100,000.
Shadab Khan going back to Birmingham Phoenix was the only retention of a Pakistani player by the franchises.
Wahab Riaz was released by Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles parted ways with Mohammad Hasnain and Naseem Shah was let go by Welsh Fire.
Shadab has quickly established himself as one of the best-suited talents in limited-overs cricket in the world. His talents have seen him traverse the globe playing franchise cricket with some of the biggest names in cricket.
Pakistan’s vice-captain recently applied his trade in Australia’s Big Bash League for Hobart Hurricanes while he has already signed up to play for Sussex in the English county season this year as well.
Shadab is currently leading Islamabad United in this year’s Pakistan Super League as they look to add a record-extending third title in the franchise’s history.
For Birmingham, Shadab will play under the captaincy of Moeen Ali is part of United’s squad but unavailable due to national commitments.
The Hundred 2023 will start on August 1st.
