KARACHI – Agha Samiullah, a farmer in Sindh, has successfully produced yarn from banana waste.
As per the media reports, the farmer used a discarded material to produce a valuable product. He said that there was no need to discard or burn banana stems when they could be utilized for producing products of use.
A farmer in Badin’s Tando Ghulam Ali area revealed using solar panels to run extraction machines to save the environment.
“The raw fibre can be used to make beds, carpets, socks, and sweaters. Mixing it with cotton at the mill can create even more products,” Agha Samiullah said.
Locals hailed this eco-friendly initiative, recognising its potential to generate income from waste material.
Samiullah urged the government to support banana fibre extraction to stabilise the agricultural sector and earn revenue for the country.
