LAHORE – Pakistan captain Babar Azam is mulling legal action over allegations of misconduct after ICC T20 World Cup 2024 exit, the sources close to him said on Saturday.

The YouTubers and former players had accused him of misconduct during the T20 World Cup 2024.

Following Pakistan’s early exit from the tournament, Babar and the team’s performance faced significant criticism.

The sources said that a social media campaign during the tournament specifically targeted Babar, causing him considerable distress due to the allegations.

Babar is reportedly contemplating legal notices against those responsible for the accusations and has begun consulting with legal experts.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s legal department is said to be collecting evidence related to the statements made by YouTubers and former players against Babar.

Pakistan failed to qualify for the Super 8, leading to their elimination from the mega tournament. The team has been under fire for their subpar performance in the group stage matches.

Pakistan suffered defeats against debutants the US by five runs in a Super Over tie and against India by six runs. They managed to secure a win against Canada on June 11 by seven wickets.

The match between the US and Ireland on June 14 was abandoned due to rain, resulting in each team gaining one point and ending Pakistan’s hopes of advancing in the tournament.

The national team’s last league game against Ireland was merely a formality after which the squad returned home.
