Painting a bleak picture of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the Modi-led Indian regime, particularly after the revocation of special status of the territory, Apni Party Jammu president and former Minister Manjit Singh has said that growing problems in Jammu and Kashmir cannot be resolved without the restoration of statehood.
While addressing a public meeting in Jammu, Manjit Singh said, “The restoration of statehood is important and there should not be any further delay as it has given rise to many issues. The people have lost faith in the Modi government and the local administration has failed to come up to the expectation of the people,” he added.
The meeting was organized by president of Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi. Manjit said that most of the public issues remained unaddressed and the development has taken a back stage. The former minister said that the developmental projects which were initiated by the previous Governments are yet to be completed and there is no accountability of the officials.
He said that the basic amenities are not provided to many of the residential colonies even within the municipal limits which show the non-serious approach of the authorities. “The Smart City Project is still a distant dream. …the development has become main cause of inconvenience for commuters on the busy city roads. The uprooted roads showcase miserable condition of the city,” he added.—INP
