All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders have strongly denounced the sharing of a derogatory video on social media by a non-Kashmiri Hindu student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, senior APHC leader Professor Abdul Ghani Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar said this is a heinous crime and a deliberate act to play with the sentiments of the Muslims in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that Muslims are peace-loving, but when it comes to the religion of Islam and the person of the prophet of Allah, then every young follower of the Ummah considers it his first duty to take life and give life. This is a well-thought-out plot that is hardly to be tolerated, he added

Professor Butt said India has become a cradle of racism and religious hatred. This is not only the problem of Kashmiri Muslims, but the problem of the world of Islam, he maintained.

APHC senior leader Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi addressing mourners in Srinagar said, “Unfortunately blasphemous remarks continue without punishment. It constitutes a grave danger to the protection of human rights and has already resulted in prejudice.”

He further said, “We reject prejudice against the symbols of the Islamic religion and against all religious figures and symbols.”

Agha Syed Hassan called upon the NIT administration not to tolerate such fanatics who are injuring the feelings of Muslims.

The Muslim Personal Law Board Jammu and Kashmir, a religious organisation headed by Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned the blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), terming it totally unacceptable.

The Board members said that the reverence and honour of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is dearer to a Muslim than his or her life and such remarks are deplorable and condemnable.

Hurriyet leaders, including Mohammad Yusuf Naqash, Ghulam Nabi War, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Nasibuddin, Muhammad Aaqib and Javaid Ahmed Mir, in their separate statements in Srinagar said that blasphemous remarks against the Prophet of Islam would never be tolerated.

Meanwhile, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in his statement in Islamabad, denouncing the derogatory video, said such acts of desecration of Islam and Prophet (PBUH) and demolishing of Mosques across India will be resisted at any cost, he remarked. He also demanded closure of admissions in IIOJK colleges and universities for outsiders, especially having political or religious links with the Hindutva organisations like RSS.

Other APHC-AJK leaders Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal and Muhammad Sultan Butt and Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali in their statements in Islamabad also denounced the derogatory remarks against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).—KMS
