Renowned comedian, writer, and intellectual Anwar Maqsood emphasized the need to bring educated individuals into the country’s assemblies while addressing a fundraising event for Al-Furqan Schools at the residence of businessman Zahid Hameed. Maqsood highlighted the dismal state of educational funding in Pakistan, stating,

“It is unfortunate that education has received the least attention in our budgets over the years.” Speaking as the chief guest, Maqsood underscored the importance of institutions like Al-Furqan Organization, which work tirelessly to provide education to underprivileged children. “Millions of children who are out of school deserve the opportunity to learn, and initiatives like Al-Furqan are more critical now than ever,” he said.

He also stressed the need for adult education to create a society that fosters positive change, especially in legislative bodies. In a lighter vein, Maqsood remarked, “The stock exchange’s recent surge is due to Imran Khan being in jail. If he were out, the stock exchange would never have climbed so high.” Veteran actor Behrooz Sabzwari praised Maqsood, calling him “an asset to this country,” and commended Al-Furqan as a “ray of light in the darkness.”

Sabzwari added, “Faryal Asif has taken on the responsibility that should have been fulfilled by the people of this nation.” Host Zahid Hameed expressed gratitude for the overwhelming participation at the event, saying, “The presence of so many people here today shows Karachi’s deep interest in education.” President of Al-Furqan Organization, Faryal Asif, shared the remarkable journey of the initiative, which began with just 16 children, two teachers, and a single room.

Today, the organization operates 16 branches across Sindh, with 14 schools in Karachi and two in the province’s interior, serving 3,000 students. Asif highlighted the transformative power of education, stating, “If we continue encouraging these children, especially the girls, no one can stop them from achieving great heights.” saThe fundraiser saw enthusiastic support from attendees, with many donating significant amounts and pledging to cover the fees of boys and girls studying at Al-Furqan Schools. Shields were presented to the distinguished guests, and students of Al-Furqan Schools actively participated in the event, showcasing their talent and gratitude.

Speakers at the event, including Yasmin Hussain, Imran Aslam, Murad Soni, Kamran Habib, and Kashif Chawla, echoed the sentiment that education is the key to a brighter future for Pakistan. The event concluded on a hopeful note, with Maqsood and other dignitaries calling for continued efforts to ensure access to quality education for all, a vision that Al-Furqan Organization strives to realize.
