All demands of protesting tribesmen accepted

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) tribal district South Waziristan Khalid Iqbal Khattak Wednesday has said that an amount of PKR 320 million has been so far released for the compensation of damaged houses, affected during the military operation Rah-i-Nijat in South Waziristan.

Briefing media persons at his office, the DC apprised that the survey of remaining areas of the district was also in full swing and the pending survey forms were being processed, he noted.

Khalid Iqbal mentioned that all legitimate demands of “Yu-Mahsud” protest demonstration had been acknowledged and accepted, saying there had been no reason for continuation of protest sit-in in front of his office as it was irking the routing business matters of administration besides creating problems for visiting public and student of Governor Model School, he maintained.

Meantime, the Mahsud tribesmen of South Waziristan continued their protest demonstration in front of the DCs office here on Wednesday for the second consecutive day under the umberella of “Yu-Mahsud”, an association of different sub-casts of Mahsud tribe organized for the advocacy of common causes of the tribe.

The protesting tribesmen chanted slogans against the district administration and blamed that the authorities concerned had been turning a deaf ear to their genuine demands.
