The Oslo Forum of 2022 was held on Tuesday, where participants at the annual retreat focused on conflict mediation and peace processes. Afghanistan was also part of the discussion, according to a statement issued by the Norwegian Government Security and Service.

“Topics for discussion at this year’s Oslo Forum will include developments in the Middle East, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Yemen, Venezuela and Ethiopia, as well as other conflict areas,” the statement said.

The Islamic Emirate said it was not aware of the summit.

“Regarding this, the Islamic Emirate was not aware of it. Whenever the results of the meeting come out, we will comment on it,” said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.

The Oslo Forum is taking place from June 21 to 22, the statement said, adding that around 100 conflict mediators, high-level decision-makers, experts and peace process actors from around the world will gather to share their experience of peace diplomacy and conflict resolution.

“This is a general summit about various issues in various parts of the world. Afghanistan is part of this summit, and I don’t think the results of the summit will reach the Arg (Afghanistan),” said Torek Farhadi, a political analyst.

Earlier, a delegation of the Islamic Emirate, led by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi was invited to the Oslo summit.—Tolonews
