Sindh Minister for Local Government, SaeedGhani addressed concerns regarding Karachi’s water scarcity during a session on Thursday. Ghani attributed the water crisis in the city not only to the high demand but also to electricity load shedding by E-Electric. He highlighted that certain areas in Karachi rely on water from tankers, which are unable to operate when electricity is cut off. This dual impact significantly hampers water supply to residents. During the assembly session, Ghani acknowledged the urgency of the situation, particularly with the scorching summer heat exacerbating the issue.
He emphasized the need for immediate action to mitigate the water shortage and pledged the government’s commitment to resolving the crisis. Additionally, Ghani pointed out that while addressing the water scarcity, efforts were also underway to rectify issues with the water board’s infrastructure.
He assured that the Water Board’s team is diligently working to repair a 48-inch pipeline in the area, which will temporarily alleviate the situation. Furthermore, he mentioned ongoing initiatives to alleviate the hardships faced by residents in Kharadar. Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Ghani assured the assembly that the government is working tirelessly to provide relief to the affected areas and alleviate the water shortage in Karachi.
