Karachi police chief Khadim Hussain Rind has taken action against black sheep of the police department by suspending police officers whose videos have gone viral on social media.

Officials said Friday Karachi’s additional IG had also ordered the Lyari Division SP to conduct an inquiry against two officials by suspending Inspector Akbar Hussain and ASI Abdul Rehman of Investigation Wing of the District City Police.Rind had also ordered strict departmental action against all such officials who caused disrepute to the police department or whose actions created a negative impression of the police in the public, they added.

It should be noted that in the current week, while the additional IG has given rewards to many officers for good work, punishments have also been given to those with bad conduct. These include the SHOs of the Site Super Highway and Sohrab Goth police stations, the Head Mohrar of Supermarket and ASI Amir Bakhsh of the Gadap Town police station.

He said the job of the police is to maintain the law and order in the society and those misusing their powers will not be allowed to remain part of the Karachi police. Meanwhile, DIG Syed Asad Raza of South Range said that immediate action on the video of ASI Abdul Rehman receiving a bribe has been taken. The cop was posted at the Risala Police Investigation.ASI Abdul Rehman had been suspended, the DIG South said and added that a show-cause notice had also been issued to the SIO Risala. The inquiry against the two will be conducted by the SSP Investigation and he shall submit a report within 7 days.

On Thursday, DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar, chief of East Range, had taken strict action against 74 policemen and officers and blacklisted them over various complaints.Officials said on Thursday the DIG office released a list of blacklisted police personnel, who had been ordered to report to the headquarters. Moreover, 14 policemen and officers have also been suspended while all 74 personnel and officers have been shifted to B-Company.They added that these are the police officers against whom complaints were received from IR (information report) and the Internal Accountability Bureau and the public. No operational or field work will be taken from all these police personnel.

The B Company was formed by the Sindh IGP and Karachi’s additional IG. It has also been launched in East Range where blacklisted officials will be closed (confined to the headquarters), and this step is a clear proof that the process of accountability in the police is going on and will continue and action on public complaints is a top priority, said DIG Mahesar.

Earlier, taking action against police failure to control the law and order situation, Karachi police chief Additional Inspector General of Police Khadim Hussain Rind had suspended the Sohrab Goth sub-divisional police officer (SPDO), who was of the DSP rank, the Sohrab Goth station house officer (SHO) and athe Site Super Highway SHO over allegations of patronising criminals within their jurisdiction.
