Switzerland To Host Next Round Of Us Iran Talks Amid Fresh Escalation

TEHRAN – A fresh round of US-Iran negotiations could take place as early as next week, with Switzerland emerging as a possible venue, Axios reported, quoting sources familiar with the diplomatic efforts.

Regional mediators are reportedly working behind the scenes to ease tensions and bring Washington and Tehran back to the negotiating table following their recent military confrontation.

The reports, however, have been met with an immediate denial from Iran. A source close to Tehran’s negotiating team, speaking to Fars News, dismissed claims that preparations for new talks had already been finalized, calling the reports baseless and insisting that any official developments would be announced only through Iranian authorities.

Adding to the mixed messaging, US President Donald Trump confirmed that Washington is willing to continue negotiations after Iran requested further talks. But he also mentioned that the previous ceasefire was “over,” underscoring that while diplomatic channels remain open, the risk of renewed military escalation has not disappeared.

Trump administration is seeking to prevent Israel from taking part in any potential US military action against Iran. According to Israeli sources, Washington believes Israeli involvement could widen the conflict and undermine ongoing efforts to preserve stability and keep diplomatic negotiations alive.

Qatari mediators are holding talks in Iran in coordination with the United States, aiming to reduce tensions and lay the groundwork for broader negotiations. The discussions are focused on implementing the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding and resolving key disputes, including disagreements over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, that fueled recent hostilities.

The latest developments paint a complex diplomatic picture: active mediation efforts are underway, Washington has signaled a willingness to keep talking, Tehran has denied that any formal negotiations have been scheduled, and military tensions remain unresolved.
