Sindh Interior Ministry has formally requested the federal government to issue international red warrants for Wasiullah Lakho, a notorious commander of the Lyari gang war, on charges related to terrorism and other serious criminal activities.
In its request, the ministry has urged Interpol to issue a red notice for Lakho’s arrest, in response to his alleged ongoing involvement in a terrorism network operating from abroad. Wasiullah Lakho is facing numerous criminal charges, including terrorism, extortion, and murder, with several cases filed against him. His name has repeatedly surfaced in investigations related to organized crime and violence in Karachi.
Officials have reported that Lakho is believed to be operating from outside the country, continuing to issue orders to his gang members in Karachi, raising concerns about the growing reach of his network. The decision to pursue the international red warrants was taken after a recommendation by SSP City Arif Aziz, based on communications from the Inspector General of Sindh to the provincial government, which outlined the severity of Lakho’s criminal operations.
Authorities are now working on international cooperation to ensure that Lakho is apprehended and brought to justice, in light of the ongoing threat posed by his activities and leadership within the gang.
