Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Department and Thar Foundation have agreed to collaborate on initiatives aimed at improving the livestock sector in Thar. The partnership will focus on livestock census, vaccination, and farmer training in Islamkot.
In a meeting with the Thar Foundation delegation, Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Muhammad Ali Malkani, emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships to overcome challenges in the region. “Sindh leads in public-private partnerships, and we are committed to working with the private sector to enhance the livestock sector,” said the minister.
The delegation included Thar Foundation Manager Imam Ali Detho, CSR Manager Rajveer Singh Sodha, and Education Manager Allah Warrayo Hajano. They expressed their readiness to work with the Livestock Department to improve conditions for livestock and farmers in Thar.
A comprehensive plan will be developed to ensure accurate livestock data and regular vaccination to prevent diseases. Training sessions for farmers will be organized to boost productivity and provide livelihood opportunities.
Collaboration with Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, will provide technical expertise for the initiative.
Minister Malkani highlighted the department’s efforts to increase livestock productivity, preserve local breeds, and equip local youth with vocational training in the livestock sector.
“Our aim is to create new job opportunities for the youth and improve the overall living conditions for Thar’s farmers and livestock,” he added.
