LAHORE: The Punjab government would introduce a short-term mini-budget, the sources close to the development said on Monday.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed the Punjab finance ministry to draft the mini-budget, sources disclosed.
The sources said that the Punjab assembly would convene next week to commence the budget proceedings. The assembly will ratify the mini-budget, followed by a special report to be presented to CM Maryam.
The sources revealed that the Finance Minister would formally present the budget in the Punjab Assembly subsequent to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s approval.
In a related development, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, the Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), unveiled the provincial budget for FY 2022-23, amounting to a total outlay of Rs1332 billion.
During the budget session of the KP Assembly, Taimur Saleem Jhagra noted that the budget’s total outlay is Rs1332 billion. He stated, “Despite facing obstacles, we have allocated Rs319.2 billion for the development portfolio, with only Rs8 billion expected under the PSDP,”.
