A special week is being celebrated at Lahore General Hospital to provide patients with an infection-free environment under which special training of awareness, workshops for doctors, nurses and paramedical staff took place.
Other measures to ensure hospital hygiene and provide patients with a sterile environment that allows them to return to their homes in the shortest possible time in the General Hospital a few days ago.
Postgraduate Medical Institute & Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Principal Dr Sardar Al-Freed Zafar spoke to doctors and medical staff yesterday and said that the nursing and paramedical staff should ensure strict compliance of the scheduled SOPs to prevent patients coming to the hospital from infection.
He said that in addition to the medical staff, the patients and their relatives coming to the hospital were equally responsible for avoiding any activity which may pose a danger to them.
HoD, CSSD Dr. Laila Shafiq, Principal nursing College Kosar Tasneem and Deputy Nursing Superintendent Ruqayya Bano said that being Muslim cleansing is an integral part of our religion while as a patient the cost can be saved by taking care of environment. They said that the patient is the most important thing for all of us so priority should be given to extend every possible facility in which infection free environment has great significance. They said that the infection-free logo would not only raise the name of the LGH but also help in providing better facilities to the patients.
On this occasion, Medical Superintendent Dr. Mahmood Salah Uddin, highlighted the key features of this week’s celebrations in which special spray has been undertaken in every department so that bed sheets, medical kits and other equipment could be sterilized. Principal PGMI declared this week’s celebration at the Lahore General Hospital to be a good omen for patients. He said the doctors, nurses and paramedics staff have one and only motto of serving ailing humanity. One of the things that we should all do is to help patients and sick people to recover them from infection as soon as possible. This Week’s Course Director, Dr. Mohammad Irfan Malik and Dr. Amana Asif, also spoke on the occasion and said that conducting a workshop on infection prevention week has been very useful in which various doctors delivered lectures on aware of infection prevention.
