In order to curb Lumpy skin disease, Sindh Government on Monday imposed an emergency, in the whole province.Sindh livestock and fisheries department has imposed emergency throughout the province.
The letter regarding the emergency over Lumpy skin disease has been dispatched to the divisional commissioners of different cities of the province including Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Shaheed Benazirabad and Sukkur.Divisional Commissioners have been directed to work with Sindh livestock and fisheries department and concerned authorities, to fight the Lumpy Skin disease.The commissioners have been directed to ensure that the cattle, who has contracted the Lumpy skin, must be quarantined. They have also been directed the livestock authorities to spray mosquito repellent in and around cattle farm.
The Sindh livestock and fisheries department has also directed the Municipal institutions to remain alert over the disease.On the other hand, Due to concern of lumpy skin disease in cattle as protests Monday staged by the Meet Merchant Association (MMA), who demanded the KMC to immediately issue orders to open the market.
The president of the association, Nadeem Qureshi stated that over 500,000 meat sellers have been the victim of economic discrimination. As per association’s president, thousands of the merchants are staging protest at Karachi press Club. The protestors urged the Livestock Department to emphasize their take over the issue.
Nadeem Qureshi claimed that in the cattle market, the animals which are slaughtered are tidy. Clearing the air over cattle, General Secretary Arsalan Qureshi cleared that the animals that are dying, belonged to the farm. He went on to claim that the animals brought from the wild side and villages are quite sound and healthy.
